The Modular Multilevel Converter is a good alternative for high power, medium voltage drive applications due to its modularity and scalability. However, the control complex typically involves several highly-coupled circulating current feedback loops implemented using Single-Input Single-Output design tools. Additionally, each has many different frequency components electrical sequences increase degrees of freedom in controller. In this work, use Continuous Control Set Model Predictive proposed order include cross-coupling interactions between state variables consider system constraints, such as maximum output voltage. controller intended designed operate with dynamic performance over entire speed range machine. methodology experimentally validated an 18-cell MMC prototype driving cage Additional experimental tests are performed PLECS-RT HIL platforms.
